More joy for our country! The national delegation started off on the right foot this Thursday at the XII South American Games 2022 being held in Asunción, Paraguay. Peru won two gold medals, bringing their total to fifteen gold medals in this competition.
Annia Becerra took first place in air pistol shooting in the women's 10-meter air pistol event, scoring 17 points (qualified for the Pan American Games). Ecuadorian Andrea Pérez came in second (15), while Brazilian Cibele Bautista completed the podium in third place.

Daniella Borda also became champion in the same discipline. However, the national representative achieved this in the women's skeet event (qualified for the Pan American Games 2023).

Both pieces of news were published on the social media channels of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD). In the comments, users congratulated the athletes for bringing the name of the country to the top of this international competition.
How is Peru doing in the medal standings of the XII South American Games 2022?
It is important to mention that the Peruvian delegation is currently in seventh place with 56 medals (15 gold, 13 silver, and 28 bronze). Brazil leads the table with 242 medals, while Colombia is in second place with 195.
It should be noted that the XII South American Games will conclude on Saturday, October 15th, and therefore, the Peruvian delegation still has days to achieve more victories.
