One of Peru's most delicious and well-known dishes is pollo a la brasa, although there are several restaurant chains that offer this dish, there are two very well-known establishments in the country. We're referring to Norky's and Roky's.

The names of these companies and the colors of their logos are very similar, but there is a personal history behind their creation. In this article, we will tell you which chicken restaurant opened its location first.

Norky's or Roky's: Which one came first?

It is likely that there is no crowded place where you will not find a Norky's or Roky's chicken restaurant, but have you ever wondered which one came first? HERE we will tell you all the details.

The answer to that question is very simple, Norky's was the first to start in this industry, in September 1976, opening its first location on Abancay Avenue 648.

While Roky's opened its location nine years later, in 1985, in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, with a name very similar to the pioneer of chicken restaurants in Peru.

History of Norky's

The Tamashiro Japanese family inaugurated Norky's and its slogan was: "Pioneer in providing an unmatched flavor in chickens". Through effort and dedication, the restaurants managed to position themselves in the market.

Currently, Norky's has 146 locations throughout the country and is managed by Carlyle Group, who purchased Norky's from Kiyotake Tamashiro.

In addition, it is one of the largest restaurant chains in Lima and has various locations in Chiclayo, Trujillo, Ica, Arequipa, and Huancayo.

History of Roky's

The first location was inaugurated by Armando Pillan, in Zárate, located in the popular district of San Juan de Lurigancho.

When they started, they only had 15 tables and a space of 10 square meters. But currently, they have 97 chicken restaurants nationwide and have crossed borders, reaching Bolivia with 6 locations.
