Venezuela returned to the podium of the Asuncion 2022 South American Games, this time thanks to the successful participation of female karateka Claudymar Garcés, who won the silver medal in the final against Peruvian Alexandre Grande.
The Venezuelan athlete had a great performance in the competition. However, in the final, she couldn't overcome the cunningness of her opponent, losing 0-1 in the 61-kilogram category.

In the current competition, Venezuela remains one of the top participating delegations, and with this new success, the country's medal count in the overall standings has increased.
On Tuesday, another protagonist was weightlifter Keydomar Vallenilla, who won the gold medal by lifting 178 kilograms and also breaking the South American record with a clean and jerk of 216 kilograms, totaling 394 kg overall.
