After his actions went viral on social media, the former Alianza Lima player published a statement where he commented that he feels ashamed of what happened and apologized for his reaction.

"Yesterday, after the match against Sport Huancayo, a group of fans was waiting outside the club to insult us. In frustration over the poor results and the pressure from the fans, I reacted badly and, with great shame for what happened, I publish this statement to apologize," he commented.
Likewise, Rojas explained the situation and detailed that he let himself be carried away by impulses. "As you can see in the video, they insulted me and I had the urge to defend myself after repetitive provocations. Beyond words, they spit on me and that's when I crossed the line: I grabbed someone's clothes, but when I realized it was an elderly man, I let go, but it was already too late because everyone was on top of me," he said.
