Bronze medals in swimming: Peru continues to add up at the South American Games.

The Asunción 2022 South American Games continue in dispute this Tuesday and the Peruvian delegation won new medals in Swimming. In the first instance, Alexia Sotomayor won the bronze medal in the 200 meters backstroke category; while the women's team, made up of Mckenna De Bever, Rafaela Fernandini, Jessica Cattaneo, and Alexia herself, also reached the third place in the 4x100 freestyle relays.

In the individual competition, Sotomayor, our national swimmer, came with good background, since she had achieved third place in the 50m and 100m backstroke at this same competition, demonstrating her great abilities. And in the 200m contest, as expected, she was a protagonist.

Alexia had a good start in the Main Pool of the National Aquatic Center of Paraguay, but it was not enough to get first place: she completed her race in a time of 2:13.80 and finished in third place, by a few hundredths of a second difference. The Argentine Malea Santillán won the gold, with a time of 2:13.32; while the Brazilian Alexia Tavares Assunção won the silver, with 2:13.65.

On the other hand, the 4x100 freestyle relays category took place in the same venue, and the Peruvian team fought until the end to lead the podium. According to the official report, Mckenna De Bever, Rafaela Fernandini, Jessica Cattaneo, and Alexia Sotomayor finished the race in 3:49.08 and won the bronze medal.

This time, Brazil, with its team composed of Aline Da Silva Rodrigues, Ana Carolina Vieira, Giovanna Tomanik, and Stephanie Balduccini, won the gold medal (03:43.07); while Argentina, made up of Lucía Gauna, Macarena Ceballos, María Guillermina Ruggiero, and Andrea Eliana Berrino, won the silver medal (03:47.72).
