In the morning of this Sunday, skater Deivid Tuesta won the gold medal at the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022, which is being held in Paraguay until October 15. The 20-year-old Peruvian scored 355 points in the men's street skateboarding discipline.

From sixth place to gold medal
In the first round of skateboarding at the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022, which started on October 1, Peruvians Deivid Tuesta (20 years old) and Ángelo Caro (23 years old) participated. In this round, Caro finished in first place with 301.32 points, ahead of Brazilian Joao Lucas Alves (290.98 points) and Colombian Jhan Carlos González (288.99 points). Likewise, Deivid Tuesta finished in sixth place with 278.99 points, but managed to qualify for the final.
Therefore, Caro was the favorite to win the gold medal, but surprisingly, Deivid Tuesta took the gold medal with 355.31 points, 30 points ahead of second place, which was occupied by Colombian Jhan Carlos González with 324.65 points. Unfortunately, Ángelo Caro finished in sixth place with 292.66 points.

Peruvians at ASU 2022
More than 400 Peruvian athletes are participating in the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022. The athletes will compete in 46 out of the 53 sports featured in the event.
The games were inaugurated on Saturday, October 1 with the protocol parade and dances by the 15 participating delegations. The flag bearers and leaders of the Peruvian delegation were karate athlete Alexandra Grande and skater Ángelo Caro.
