Double reason to celebrate in La Victoria. After Melgar's important victory that put them one point away from the leader of the Clausura Tournament and revived the dream of the bicampeonato, Alianza Lima celebrates a new record in ticket sales in the Liga 1 2022 so far this season.
A few weeks ago, the blanquiazul board had announced that they had managed to raise more than 13 million soles (13,656,850 soles to be exact). However, after the four home matches (Sport Huancayo, Universitario de Deportes, Cantolao, and Melgar), the team added s/3,380,422 to the bag, breaking the record of S/16,385,279.55 in ticket sales.
A truly incredible and historic amount for the victorian institution and for Peruvian football in general. But it's not going to stop there. Alianza Lima still has four home matches for the Clausura: San Martín, Deportivo Municipal, Binacional, and ADT.
Taking into account that, according to the club's latest official report, more than 17 thousand tickets have been sold for Monday's match against Los Santos, the Matute hallways aim to raise 20 million soles. That's not counting a hypothetical semifinal or final, or both.
It is worth mentioning that these more than 16 million soles were raised in 17 home matches so far this year: 13 in the Liga 1 2022, 3 in the Copa Libertadores, and the Noche Blanquiazul that had a 30% allowed capacity. In addition, the team played behind closed doors against Atlético Grau in the beginning of the Torneo Apertura, so they could have raised more.
When does Alianza Lima play in the Clausura Tournament?
After defeating Melgar, Alianza Lima will play again at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, their home. This Monday, September 28, starting at 8 p.m., the team led by Guillermo Salas will receive San Martín for the 13th round of the Clausura Tournament with the aim of taking the three points to continue in the fight for the local championship and continue dreaming of the bicampeonato.
