Reynoso reveals how he found the team after the repechage: "I felt them beaten."

The Peruvian national team lost the playoff against Australia, on penalties, and failed to qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. After the painful defeat, there were some changes in the 'Blanquirroja' and the most remarkable was the appointment of a new coach: Juan Reynoso took charge. Precisely, the coach is on the verge of making his debut on the bench and revealed how he found the squad.

"Before they were hit by what happened in the playoffs, but now I feel them calmer. I see a much better human group, a winning team, which has been fighting in the last qualifiers. This is a team eager to have an opportunity and continue competing at the highest level of Conmebol," commented the coach on Thursday, in a press conference.

Remember that the national strategist started his work, with a view to the friendlies against Mexico and El Salvador, only in charge of the local tournament players. The foreign-selected players gradually joined and only a few hours ago, he was able to have the entire squad.

"Yesterday afternoon, we were able to work with the complete squad. Both Luis (Advíncula) and Carlos (Zambrano) were recovering. The intention is for most of the called players to play. We have to take advantage of these friendly matches. I know everyone as a fan," emphasized the 'Cabezón'.

Similarly, Juan Reynoso explained how he feels before his debut and also detailed the style that Peru will show. "I am happy, calm, and a little anxious. It is a lifelong dream that I am fulfilling and against an opponent that welcomed me 30 years ago. My children were born and raised as Mexicans. We want to win. We have a coaching staff with many Mexicans," he said.

"We will be a team that defends when we don't have the ball, that defends well. And that we have options to score, with good possession, trying to be vertical, not getting caught on counterattacks. That's the idea we have for our game," he concluded.
