Universitario de Deportes continues on the right track in the Play off championship of the Pluspetrol Women's League 2022. In addition to the victories against Atlético Trujillo and César Vallejo, they added, on Tuesday, August 30, a 3-0 victory against Sporting Cristal.

The 'Leonas', led by Paolo Maldonado, overcame Doriva Bueno's team as visitors at the Alberto Gallardo Stadium, with goals by Stephannie Vásquez, at 23 minutes of the first half, after an attack by the celestials that ended in recover by Cindy Novoa in her own area and turned into a quick counterattack with Adriana Muñoz and Geraldine Cisneros. It was Novoa herself who, with a low pass, set up the 'Cojita' to open the scoring with her left foot, evading the opponent's mark.

Although neither team dominated the game, the team from Ate managed to be effective and, at 80 minutes, after a free kick by Fabiola Herrera in midfield and a good reception, dribble, and cross by Xioczana Canales, Milena Tomayconsa extended the lead. Finally, at 87', Geraldine Cisneros created the play that she herself finished to secure the third goal.

With this victory, Universitario de Deportes achieved its third consecutive win in the final hexagonal and reached 10 points, as they started this phase with +1 for finishing in second place in the regular stage. However, not all news were good: shortly before the 2-0, Nahomi Martínez was carried off the field on a stretcher and is doubtful for the next match against Carlos A. Meanwhile, Sporting Cristal remains in fourth position with only three points, after their only victory against Universidad César Vallejo on the first match of the final hexagonal.
