National Multiperil Drill: what time does it start and what do we need to consider

The National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) will carry out the second National Multihazard Drill of 2022 today, Monday, August 15, with the purpose of preparing citizens and measuring their level of response to potential emergencies or disasters, within their family, work, and student environment.

The government of Peru, through INDECI, aims to carry out these national drills to strengthen the preparation and response capabilities of the entities that make up the National System of Disaster Risk Management (SINAGERD), and of the population in general in order to respond efficiently and promptly to emergencies or disasters.

National Drill: When and at what time?

The national drill will take place today, August 15, starting at 3:00 pm, by the public institution. In addition, it will observe the population's response and also aims to strengthen the entities that make up Sinagerd.

National Drill: Callao Region will evacuate Sarita Colonia area

Meanwhile, the Regional Government of Callao will join the Multihazard Drill that will take place nationwide, the exercise will consist of an evacuation in the event of a major earthquake of 8.8 Mw followed by a tsunami.

The exercise will take place in the Sarita Colonia area, composed of the human settlements Ampliación Tiwinza, Tiwinza, Acapulco, Francisco Bolognesi, Daniel Alcides Carrión, and Sarita Colonia. During the simulation, the GRD team from the Regional Management of National Defense, Civil Defense, and Citizen Security of the Callao Gore (GRDNDCYSC) will be guiding the citizens.

National Drill: will be carried out for the 15th anniversary of the earthquake in Pisco

One of the reasons why the drill will take place on August 15 is because on that date, in 2007, a 7.9 Mw earthquake was registered in Pisco (Ica). The exercise is a commemoration of the victims of this disaster. The aim is to prevent history from repeating itself.

This catastrophic event left a toll of 596 deaths, 434,614 affected people, 221,060 affected citizens, and 93,708 homes destroyed or uninhabitable.
