Alliance Lima experienced one of their worst nightmares in 2020. The white and blue team had an irregular campaign that year and ended up in the bottom positions of the standings. After that, many heads "flew" within the institution.

Players and executives left the club massively, which seemed to collapse completely after relegation. However, there were those who stepped up and offered to stay at the club despite the bad moment. One of them was the Venezuelan, Rubert Quijada.

The central defender arrived at Alliance Lima in 2020 with hopes of winning titles with the team led by Chilean Mario Salas. However, things didn't go as expected, and he was part of the squad that was relegated to Liga 2.

As you may recall, later on, the executives of Alliance Lima filed a complaint against Carlos Stein before the TAS, which allowed them to remain in the top category of Peruvian football.

However, when there was still uncertainty about the immediate future of the Victoria team, many decided to leave the club. But others, like Quijada, stayed and decided to "sink with the ship."

"I would play normally in the Second Division with Alliance Lima. The club I belong to doesn't share my decision, but it's me who ultimately decides where I go," were the Venezuelan's words prior to his departure from the institution.

It's worth mentioning that, in the end, Alliance Lima did not renew the defender's contract, and he returned to Venezuela where he was welcomed by the Aguilas Doradas, where he played until January of this year. After that, the former Alliance player returned to the club where he shone for many years: Caracas FC, and today he is the team captain.

What were Rubert Quijada's numbers in Alliance Lima?

The Venezuelan defender played 24 matches with Alliance Lima during his tenure at the white and blue club.

Rubert Quijada and his market value

According to Transfermarkt, Rubert Quijada is valued at 250,000 euros.
