Municipal returns after two years to the Concacaf League and does so in the preliminary round to face Atletico Vega Real from the Dominican Republic. The Guatemalans are the favorites on paper to advance, but their coach Juan Torres Servin remains calm and does not take it for granted, but hopes to have a good result to make up for the poor start of the local championship.
"We have to quickly change our mindset. We know that what happened to us on Saturday is painful, but that's how football is. We have a very important participation in Concacaf and now we must prepare well to think about tomorrow's match, which will be very difficult and complicated," said the Mexican about how to face the duel after being defeated by Coban last weekend.
"We have to continue taking on that responsibility and digesting what has been happening to us and keep working to fulfill the purposes and goals we have. We know that Municipal always has the pressure of being a protagonist, of always winning. Unfortunately, we started badly today, but we will reverse this with the good training and squad we have," he added.
Torres also gave his point of view about the opponent: "We cannot underestimate a team like Vega Real. Their national teams have grown and when national teams grow, it means that the league also grows, so we have to be very well prepared and focused on the fact that it will be a very complicated elimination," he said.
"We cannot go crazy and do different, strange things. We have a great squad of 30 players. So, we have to prepare for the game with those who are doing well, those who can start and those who can be substitutes with the same idea and with the mindset of winning the matches," he concluded.
