When did Agustin Lozano's tenure at the FPF start and when would it end?

The boss of Peruvian football has generated various comments among the Peruvian fans regarding the departures of Ricardo Gareca and Juan Carlos Oblitas.

Since Edwin Oviedo's departure at the end of 2018, the presidency of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) fell on Agustín Lozano, whose name became one of the most commented among fans of the Peruvian national team after coach Ricardo Gareca's departure after seven years of process.

In social networks, the criticisms of the president of the FPF were varied. Even the departure of Juan Carlos Oblitas as sports director of Videna is also being pointed out as a mistake within Lozano's management.

Agustín Lozano: his tenure at the FPF

Firstly, Agustín Lozano has many months ahead to be within the Federation. The sports leader won the last elections held in December 2021. Along with him, Luis Duarte from the Departmental League of Áncash, and Raúl Rojas from Sport Huancayo were presented as vice presidents of the FPF.

In his board of directors, Raúl Bao (San Martín), Gisella Mandriotti (Cantolao), Rolando Bellido (Ayacucho FC), Osías Ramírez (UTC), Arturo Ríos (Atlético Grau), José Carlos Islas (Juan Aurich), Genaro Miñán (Cusco League), and Juan Enrique Dupuy (Group of footballers' interest) were mentioned.

For these elections, the only candidate list was the one led by the current president of Videna. With the victory assured, the former mayor of Chongoyape will remain at the helm of Peruvian football until the end of 2025.

Sports results under Agustín Lozano's management in the FPF

Since Agustín Lozano took office as president of the FPF, the sports achievements that have been registered are the runner-up position of the Peruvian national team in the 2019 Copa America and the fourth place in the same tournament held in 2021.

The main objective was to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, but the team failed to secure its spot in the finals after losing in the playoffs against the Australian team.

Regarding women's football, the senior Peruvian national team was eliminated from the 2022 Copa America.

What lies ahead for Agustín Lozano's management in the coming years?

The next challenges that the FPF will face under Agustín Lozano's leadership will be the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This new qualifying process is scheduled to begin in March 2023.

As for the FPF's youth soccer categories, the South American U-20 Championship will take place in January of next year. This national team is coached by Gustavo Roverano and will seek qualification for the World Cup.

Similarly, Agustín Lozano and the members of Videna will be in charge of organizing a very important event in 2023: the U-17 World Cup. This tournament was supposed to be played in 2021 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

In women's football, the Peruvian national team will participate in the qualification for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
