On this occasion, Antonio Gonzales spoke with Líbero to share his current situation at 36 years old. Additionally, he explained the reason why he is no longer part of the club despite everything he contributed since his beginnings in professional football.
"Why am I so distant from Universitario? It's my personality. I don't like to bother. I believe that those who are there now deserve respect. I will have my moment to be in the club and contribute all my experience," declared Antonio Gonzales in an interview for Líbero with Gustavo Peralta.
Antonio Gonzales also made it clear that he respects the people who are part of the team, as they make their best effort for the team to achieve the goals set at the beginning of the season. However, he feels prepared in case the cream directive chooses to want his services.
"I don't like to knock on doors. The authorities that are there trust their personnel. If the time comes, I will be prepared. The "U" is not an objective. If you are there, you must give your all. Everything must be beneficial for the club," he added.
Antonio Gonzales has been present in the good and bad moments with Universitario. In fact, he was part of the club's last championship in the 2013 season. He left the club in 2015 and then played for clubs like Ayacucho FC, César Vallejo, Sport Rosario, and Pirata FC.
"I have always been connected to the club. Not only for ten years, but since I was in the youth teams. It would be great to be at the club. Not just to see what happens, but focused on giving 100% for the good of Universitario," he emphasized.
