The blanquiazul club lost all chances of winning the Apertura title and is now 100% focused on planning the Clausura campaign and playoffs, in order to repeat the feat of being national champions for the second consecutive time.
"Thank you, 'Pájaro', for your commitment and the good times wearing the blanquiazul. We wish you the best in your future projects, this will always be your home, champion", was the message that Alianza shared on social media, accompanied by an image with great moments of the player:
Edgar Benítez played 38 matches with the blanquiazul shirt, 33 in the Liga 1 and 5 in the Copa Libertadores. Scoring goals was somewhat challenging, but finally the player managed to score 3 goals and provided 4 important assists. Now, the Paraguayan national team player will have to seek opportunities to continue his career.
By letting the 'Pájaro' fly away, those from La Victoria have a vacant foreign player spot, and for 'profe' Bustos, this could be extremely important in the second half of the year.
