The Supreme Court will handle the file from now on and this step could mean a big change regarding the large debt that 'U' has.

In that context, Libero spoke with Universitario's lawyer, Adrián Gilabert, who had already anticipated what could happen. "When Universitario enters the bankruptcy process, the creditors also appear. Indecopi qualifies who is a creditor and who is not. In 2013, Gremco appeared and what U maintains is that Gremco cannot be a creditor because it has an arbitration award with which it collects the debt. We are not discussing whether U owes Gremco or not, what we are discussing is whether it has the status of creditor or not, that is what is being discussed," he said.
In its award, it determines that it cannot be in the bankruptcy process and at the same time it cannot be charging you. This discussion that began in 2013 is coming to its final instance (Supreme Court) which is cassation, where it will be discussed whether Gremco should be a creditor of the club and if, in any case, the debt has to be liquidated," the lawyer added.
According to Gilabert, the Judiciary has ruled in favor of the Ate club by accepting the cassation appeal. And that there are also great chances that Gremco will be expelled from the bankruptcy process.
"If the admission is in favor of Universitario, then we would have a 90 to 95% chance that Gremco will be expelled from the bankruptcy process. Remember that Gremco has 55% of the accounts receivable or the composition of the debt that U has to pay. We are talking about, if we expel Gremco, Universitario will owe 50% less in the bankruptcy process," he said. We just have to wait for the final resolution, but this is a great advance for the crema team. "
