Roberto Carlos took a few minutes to give his heartfelt opinion on the Peru vs Australia match, in an exclusive interview with LÍBERO. He answered the correspondent Luis Mendoza's questions from Miami. The Brazilian lamented that Peru, under Ricardo Gareca's leadership, lost in the penalty shootout against the Oceanians and consequently missed their chance to go to Qatar 2022. He said, "Peru has tried their best in their own way, but the problem is that in penalty shootouts, you have to pray."

On the other hand, the player considered the best left-back in history sends his congratulations to the Peruvian National Team under Ricardo Gareca. He also acknowledged the level of the Australians in this match and said, "I truly congratulate Peru for what they have done, for deserving to be in the playoff, and for playing against a good team like Australia."

However, the Brazilian player Roberto Carlos had harsh words for Andrew Redwaine, the popular 'dancing' goalkeeper who started making distracting moves with the opposing players, in this case, the Peruvians. He said, "There was a goalkeeper that was constantly moving while a player was about to take a penalty. It's complicated. Next time, they need to better prepare."

As it is recalled, Peru lost to Australia in the penalty shootout with a result of 5-4. This outcome was reached after a 0-0 draw in the 120 minutes of play. In this way, the Socceroos secured their spot in the World Cup for the sixth time in their history.
