Universitario de Deportes is not doing well. After being left without chances in the Torneo Apertura of Liga1 Betsson, this Tuesday received bad news: Álvaro Barco will not be the sports manager of 'U'.

The executive from Universidad San Martín had a verbal agreement with administrator Jean Ferrari, but some details needed to be resolved. Finally, as we learned on RPP Noticias, the decision that was communicated to the club in the last hours is that the proposal will not be accepted.

Although the reasons are unknown, what is certain is that now Universitario de Deportes must turn the page and look for another candidate to fill the position. The idea was always to present it in June. For now, there is no known plan B. However, Jean Ferrari mentioned last weekend, on his Twitter account, that the announcement will be made "next week".

That, of course, affects the selection of a new coach. According to sources from RPP, the club would take advantage of the break for the playoffs to look for a coach for the remainder of the tournament, but the intention was for the appointment to be made with a new sports manager.

'Tito' returned to 'U'

In other news, last Friday, after more than two months in his native country, Luis Urruti, midfielder for Universitario de Deportes, returned to the country to continue his recovery under the supervision of the club's doctors. This Monday, he attended the training at Campo Mar, although, of course, doing different work.

Although there is no medical diagnosis that guarantees the remaining rehabilitation time, upon arriving in the Peruvian capital, he declared to the media that he hopes to return to the field in approximately four months. "Hopefully I can return at the end of September and, who knows, play in the finals," he said, making it clear that he dreams of the team being able to fight for the title.

The Universitario de Deportes squad will have time off from Wednesday 1 to Sunday 5. Training will resume on Monday, May 6, and it is planned to play some friendly matches.
