Sporting Cristal visited Flamengo for the sixth matchday of Group H in the Copa Libertadores at Maracanã Stadium. The goal of the Peruvian team was to achieve a positive result that would allow them to qualify for the Copa Sudamericana, however, they lost 2-1.
The possible qualification depended on Universidad Católica's defeat against Talleres in Santiago, which happened. Sporting Cristal had opportunities that they were unable to convert.
