Group stage of Copa Libertadores 2022 enters its final stretch and this week the penultimate matchday was played. The fifth round of the tournament was decisive, as some teams secured their spot in the round of 16.
Sporting Cristal, with a man advantage since the second half, couldn't open the score and drew 0-0 against Talleres at the Estadio Nacional. This way, the celestes are officially eliminated from the Copa Libertadores and will have to fight for a spot in the Copa Sudamericana against Flamengo at the Maracaná on May 24.
Alianza Lima couldn't beat Fortaleza and lost 2-0 at the Estadio Nacional. The team led by Carlos Bustos couldn't fulfill the mission of winning a game in the Copa Libertadores and accumulated 28 consecutive matches without a win in the continental tournament. The blanquiazules won't be able to qualify for the Sudamericana either.
