The former footballer Roberto Palacios, candidate for Congress for Lima with Alliance for Progress (APP), trusts that César Acuña will clarify the plagiarism allegations against him.

"Lies have short legs. He will clarify things. I don't think he wanted to lie [...] I hope he clarifies things, surely he will be looking for a way to go and show the evidence," he told Canal N.

But Roberto Palacios avoided delving into the controversy generated by the plagiarism scandal. "I am not the right person to get more involved. It would be good for what comes next [that César Acuña clarifies the case]. It would be good for the party," he added.

The 'Chorri' said he had an approach to the APP leader because "I have served his universities in many events" and because César Acuña "loves sports and wants to support children".

Roberto Palacios explained that if he reaches the Congress, he will support sports. "Now they are starting to ask me things for what [sic]. I want to support my sport and hope people allow me to," he said.

Finally, he stated that "I have secured number 10" on the APP parliamentary list. But El Comercio was able to learn that due to the almost null defense of some candidates for Congress, César Acuña's party will review the formula's order.

"Surely there are many defenders, I am a midfielder. I have already secured number 10. The conversations, the exchange of ideas, things are very clear," asserted the former player of the Peruvian national football team.
