Regardless of the two consecutive lost finals against Regatas, Carlos Aparicio believes he has the fuel to continue leading Alianza Lima's volleyball team. The coach is confident in winning the championship in the upcoming tournament.

"More alliance than yesterday and less than tomorrow." In the WhatsApp information where many people usually put love phrases for their loved ones or motivation, he prefers to make his flag clear. Carlos Aparicio Saldaña is Alianza Lima, not just a fan. Founder of the volleyball team in the 90s, three-time champion from 91 to 93, he has spent his life dressed in blue and white. He had offers to leave, but that "is not negotiable" for him. A week after losing his second consecutive final, the coach spoke with DT El Comercio to clarify that he has fuel, value the support he now receives from the club to hire - Maricarmen Guerrero is the first signing - and promise a title in the next Liga Nacional Superior de Vóley. "If not, I put my head on the plate and retire," he says.

MIRA: With university volleyball players from the United States, this is how the team prepares to reach Santiago 2023.

- How have you digested the fact of losing another final against Regatas?

There are things like lack of emotional stability and hierarchy. The finals are played to win, not just to play. In that part, Regatas had an advantage. We knew it was win 3-0 or we couldn't win. The players didn't feel it that way, but well, we continue striving for the next tournament to be different.

- Was there any special work in the middle of the finals to counteract this lack of emotional balance?

There were many efforts throughout the championship. First of all, the Alianza Lima administration allowed us to concentrate before each match. That was an economic effort worth recognizing. Secondly, we talked a lot with the team in the sense that they had to believe they could achieve it. But definitely hierarchy is a totally different thing. That's why now we need to make some changes, leave aside some players who do not face the finals as they should and logically plan a different season.

- Have you already started planning for the new season?

On the day after the league ended, we were already working on what is to come. And this time we are going to go all out to win the title. On Thursday we start working on the issue of reinforcements and improving the work scheme. It is not only the court, it is also the administration. Now we have more support.

- The first signing is Maricarmen Guerrero, five-time champion middle blocker with San Martín

Yes, the inclusion of Maricarmen is a great signing for our stated objectives. She has already joined the team that has not stopped training because we have a presentation in Iquitos on Friday and Saturday. We continue thinking about what other players we can bring to reinforce the lines and not have such a short team.
