University of Sports and Alianza Lima to play first classic of the female soccer season
This match, corresponding to the third matchday of the Pluspetrol 2022 Women's League, marks a milestone in national soccer history, as it will be played at the Monumental Stadium for the first time.
Coach Paolo Maldonado spoke with RPP and expressed his happiness because this match will be played at the colossus of Ate and with an audience. He also gave the reasons why last weekend's match against Ayacucho FC was suspended: "It was mainly due to the fact that we had 16 girls in the national team: six in the U20 category (two injured) and the remaining 10 in the senior team."
"The microcycle ended on Friday and we requested, because the rule allowed us to, the postponement. Since Monday we have the complete squad, with some injury situations, but we trust that we will reach our maximum level. The emotional aspect is spectacular and I think we will arrive in great shape," added the Lionesses' coach.

"Of course, they do (feel adrenaline). The players, ninety-something percent of them are fans of 'U'. The rivalry exists for them as fans and is transferred to the women's classic. Many of them have already experienced it and that also has an impact," Paolo Maldonado said.
On the other hand, he addressed the injured players. First, he talked about Fabiola Herrera, a starting defender in University. He revealed that she had a sprained ankle but is almost recovered and could be fit for the game. Nahomi Martínez said she has also improved. If she is not a starter, she will be on the bench.
