In recent days, there has been talk about the first friendly match that the Peruvian National Team would have with a view to the World Cup playoff against Australia or the United Arab Emirates. The opponent that emerged was the Moroccan national team, who have their ticket guaranteed for Qatar 2022.

Faced with the possibility of having a friendly match against an African team, the same Selection Manager of the Peruvian Football Federation, Antonio García Pye, made it clear that nothing is yet confirmed with the mentioned country until they have information from FIFA regarding the playoff.
"The friendly match with Morocco is not true, it is one of the proposals and nothing is confirmed. We have five or six possibilities that will be managed in the coming days," declared Antonio García Pye to radio Ovación.
Similarly, García Pye stated that now the priority of the FPF is to have clarity on the schedules and venues for the playoff in Qatar. Once this information is confirmed, the logistics work will be in charge of finalizing details regarding the friendly match on a FIFA date.
"We hope that this week we can have information from FIFA regarding how much they will assume in terms of expenses and that they tell us where we will play the playoff, in which stadium and at what time," he added.
While the friendly match is not yet completely confirmed, it is true that the Peruvian National Team will be in Spain and then have a closer stretch to the Qatar venue. Precisely, in that country, it is expected that the national team will face the friendly match so that they arrive in optimal conditions for the key playoff match.
