National pride. Peruvian judoka Noemi Huayhuameza won gold medal in the Lima 2022 Pan American and Ocenania Championship, which is taking place in the Peruvian capital, adding another triumph.
The Peruvian judoka achieved victory after winning her match in Golden score against American Nicole Cancela in the -52 kg category. This allowed her to win the gold medal in the judo championship.
But she is not the only medalist from our country. Peruvian judoka Luciana Julca won the silver medal in the -57 kg category after losing in the final against Brazilian Blanca Rosa.
Another medal was won by Benjamin Galarreta, brother of judoka Yuta Galarreta, and Sebastián Benitez. The younger Galarreta, who participated for the first time representing our country, emerged victorious in the duel against Jorge Suárez in the -81 kg category and won the bronze medal.
Sebastián Benitez, in a great performance, gave Peru its second bronze medal by defeating Venezuelan Eduardo Franco by ippon in the -90 kg category.
