Quickly, hundreds of fans of the 'team of the people' expressed themselves after this news and showed their support for the 21-year-old player. Many of them agreed that in the next campaign, coach Carlos Bustos should give him more opportunities, as beyond being trained by the institution, he has great potential to exploit.

Throughout 2021, Mauricio Matzuda played two matches with the 'grones'. One of them was in the 0-0 draw against Sport Boys, and the other match was against Cienciano from Cusco, where he started as a starter. Adding up those two games, the Peruvian midfielder completed 97 minutes of play.
