Sporting Cristal will represent us in the next edition of the Copa Libertadores Sub 20 after winning 4-2 (1-1) in the penalty shootout against Alianza Lima. They also won the title of the Extraordinary Sub 18 Tournament 'Copa Generación'.
Behind Sporting Cristal's success is one of their idols: Jorge Cazulo, who coaches the Sub 18 category of the team.
The first few minutes of the match were back and forth, but the blue and white team struck first. In the 33rd minute, Gilmar Paredes, after an incursion on the right side, scored and beat Alianza Lima's goalkeeper.
In the second half, Alianza Lima came out strong to equalize the score, but their aim failed them in the final play. However, all their effort paid off in the last minute of the match. Christian Valladolid scored a header to make it 1-1. This gave hope to the Alianza Lima team.
The match went into extra time, but neither team was able to change the score. So they had to go to the penalty shootout. In this instance, Sporting Cristal was more effective.
