On Tuesday, November 23, the Recording Academy of the United States announced the nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards, a list that includes Peruvian artist Tony Succar, who will seek to win the golden gramophone in the category of Best Latin Tropical Album.
However, the composer will not have it easy, as artists of the caliber of Rubén Blades, El Gran Combo, or Gilberto Santa Rosa are also in the same category.
Through his Twitter account, Succar thanked the Recording Academy of the United States for considering him in the category. "Ahhhhh!!! We are nominated for a GRAMMY!! Thank you, Academy. I have no words, thank you very much to all the members," he shared.
The complete list of nominees for Best Latin Tropical Album is:
- Salswing (Rubén Blades and Roberto Delgado & Orquesta).
- En cuarentena (El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico).
- Sin salsa no hay paraíso (Aymée Nuviola).
- Colegas (Gilberto Santa Rosa).
- Live in Perú (Tony Succar).
Tony Succar's Grammy Awards
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that the Peruvian arranger and producer has been nominated for the Grammy Awards, as he has been awarded two gramophones in his career:
- Latin Grammy 2018: Best Tropical Song (nominated).
- Latin Grammy 2019: Producer of the Year (winner), Best Salsa Album (winner), and Album of the Year (nominated).
