Johan Fano was summoned just a few days ago to take over as the interim coach of Águilas Doradas, and this Sunday he was able to guide the team to victory. The victim was Independiente Santa Fe, in the closing of the regular phase of the Liga BetPlay 2021, also called the Torneo Finalización of Colombia.

The team from Antioquia defeated the Bogota team, thanks to Álvaro Angulo's early goal, just in the first minute of the game. Although Santa Fe tried by all means to reverse the score, to dream of qualifying for the group stage, the result did not change.

In the table, Águilas Doradas ranked thirteenth with 25 points. Santa Fe obtained the same score, closing its participation in the competition in fourteenth position.

Águilas Doradas, it is worth mentioning, announced the departure of Francesco Stifano from the coaching position on Tuesday, November 16th and welcomed Johan Fano through a statement. In addition to the Peruvian, the entity also reported that Giancarlo Umaña would be the assistant coach and that Fernando Amoroso would be the physical trainer.

“With great enthusiasm, with great responsibility, and above all, supporting the prestige of the institution that seeks a result that will allow us to end the year very well,” were Fano's words as soon as he took on the challenge in Colombian football.

Johan Fano, 43 years old, retired from professional football in 2018 wearing the Sport Boys shirt. In his extensive career, the popular 'Gavilan' also wore the shirts of Alianza Lima, Universitario, Bolognesi, León de Huánuco, UTC, among others. Internationally, he played for Once Caldas, Atlante, Atlético Nacional, and, of course, Águilas Doradas.
