Although these days almost all sports information revolves around the Peruvian National Team, the truth is that the transfer market in the local tournament continues to move. And Universitario de Deportes is no exception.
In fact, RPP Noticias learned that the cream-colored team reached an agreement with Iván Santillán to extend his contract for two seasons. However, considering that the left-back did not play a single minute in the 2021 season, the board decided to secure his services.
In this sense, the contract has certain details that protect the club's interests. For example, the player's stay in 2023 will be subject to the fulfillment of certain continuity (in minutes and/or games) by the player.
Iván Santillán, who joined Universitario de Deportes in 2020, will have to compete with Nelson Cabanillas, a player who has an advantage for having reached a high level in the last season, precisely in the absence of the 30-year-old player, who underwent two knee surgeries (meniscus) in less than a year.
Finally, we learned that the defender sparked interest from Cusco FC, a team in which he played from 2012 to 2018, but he chose to seek revenge wearing the cream-colored shirt, with which he scored four goals in 26 matches in 2020, starting in 24 of them.
