If someone ever said that there is an age for soccer, they are wrong and Pachuca's goalkeeper could tell it with his own voice.
At 42 years old (on February 1st, turning 43), and almost 23 years as a professional goalkeeper, Óscar Pérez will become the oldest player to participate in a match at Estadio Azteca.
Pachuca will arrive at América's home to play Matchday 3 and Óscar Pérez will have one of the most special moments in his life as soon as the initial whistle is heard.
Tigres, Jaguares, Necaxa, San Luis, and Pachuca have all experienced his magic in the goal, his surprising saves, and his great passion for soccer, a characteristic that, he assures, is what keeps him active after so long.
As he remembers, he made his debut in the Coloso de Santa Úrsula in the 93-94 season, experienced the Copa Libertadores with Cruz Azul, and played in World Cup qualifiers with the Mexican National Team; more than enough to create a special atmosphere in that place, as if it wasn't already.
The stadium and Pérez don't have many years of difference. This 2016, the historic stadium in Tlalpan will turn 50 years old, of telling stories, hosting legends, creating idols, breaking records, and the latest one in the immediate present will be seeing Óscar Pérez become the player with the oldest age in history to play 1 or 90 minutes at Estadio Azteca.
