Universitario de Deportes concludes its participation in the Liga 1 Betsson

Universitario de Deportes has finished its participation in the Liga 1 Betsson and has secured a place in the upcoming Copa Libertadores edition. However, on Wednesday, November 3rd, the club was sanctioned by the Licensing Commission with a deduction of one point in the accumulated table. Martín Kohatsu, the club's delegate from Ate, commented on this matter and stated that they will appeal this decision.

"They will appeal for a rights issue, since the way that the licensing process has been carried out is flawed. Mr. Gonzales and Kike, employees from the previous administration, were informed of their termination and were requested to hand over some pending issues in order to proceed with their liquidation, but they never returned those," explained in an interview for Radio Ovación.

"In order to settle the relationship, I want them to hand over what belongs to the club. We are here to safeguard the club's assets, checks and their settlement were ready, but they have never shown up and payment has not been made," added the representative of the student club.

In addition, Kohatsu criticized the actions of the Peruvian Football Federation and Licensing Commission. "Unfortunately, the Federation uses the Licensing Commission to exert pressure, just when U sends a letter inquiring about the statutes of the assembly, the next day we receive this resolution. If we had lost against Melgar, that point would have been decisive," he said.

Finally, he stated that national clubs should work together to change the regulations regarding point deductions. "Clubs should be united, points should only be deducted in the following year as they do in Italy. Administrative errors should be addressed in the next season, you cannot pay for things that belong to previous administrations," he concluded.
