The attacker Victor Ibarbo, who wore the Colombian shirt in the past World Cup in Brazil, returns to the club from Watford in England, to reinforce the greens in the dispute of the three tournaments in which they will participate this semester, including the Copa Libertadores.
"Welcome to your home Victor, the one that will always be yours, world-class", says the club's statement.
Ibarbo will start training with Atletico Nacional this Tuesday and will be presented afterwards.
"I'm excited to return after five years to Nacional, the team where I started playing," said Ibarbo to local media, who expressed that with the club led by Reinaldo Rueda, he will strive "for the top."
The 25-year-old player, who has been international 15 times with the Colombian national team, was formed in Atletico Nacional and signed with Cagliari in 2011, with whom he played 121 matches, scoring 15 goals.
Ibarbo becomes Nacional's main reinforcement for the Libertadores, a tournament in which they will face Peñarol (Uruguay), Sporting Cristal (Peru), and the winner of the playoff between Huracan (Argentina) and Caracas (Venezuela) in Group 4.
The green club will also participate in the Colombian Superliga, which awards the winner a spot in the Copa Sudamericana, and the Torneo Apertura, also known as Liga Águila, this semester.
