It had been speculated with his retirement, but at the age of 38 it is not yet the time for Mayer Candelo to hang up his boots.

"I still want to have fun with the ball and in Cortuluá there are people to play with and have a good campaign", expressed Candelo.

Mayer had already played for the Heart of Valle team in 2002 and 2004, where he played the only Copa Libertadores that team has ever played.

The legendary '10', with over 600 professional matches in 11 different squads, left an indelible mark in Millonarios, his last club, where he was for the last four years. In the capital team, the Valle del Cauca native was champion in 2011 and 2012. But he also became champion in this sport with Deportivo Cali (1996 - 1998), with America de Cali (2001), and with Universitario de Peru (2008).

Mayer is the fifth reinforcement of Cortuluá, led by Jaime de La Pava, and joins David Cortés, José Moya, Ezequiel Palomeque, and Carlos Rúa as new players of the Valle del Cauca team, which is now also looking for former Millonarios player Fabián Vargas.
