About Antonio Gonzales

The national midfielder, Antonio Gonzales, former player of Universitario and currently playing for Pirata FC in the Liga 2, referred to the particular nickname by which football fans call him.

"That 'nickname' was given to me by Joaquín Aguirre because he thought he was Jordi Alba. More abusive. We had a good time at 'U'. As long as it's good-natured, normal, it makes me smile, I joke along. It went viral at one point, right? But I'm not into social media," Toñito commented to El Bocón.

"Comizzo coached me in a mature stage of my career, there was a lot of dialogue, communication. The good thing is that we won the championship, and that relationship was reinforced. With Ricardo, I played every game, whether it was in the Apertura or Clausura. He always told me: 'Antonio, speak on the field, with your work', it turned out to be a good year," revealed the 34-year-old midfielder.

Toñito Gonzales enjoyed two titles with Universitario in 2009 and 2013, under the coaching of Juan Reynoso and Ángel Comizzo.
