The Argentine horse Handanovich never looked back and emerged as the winner in the 1,200 meters classic last Sunday at the Miguel Salem Dibo racetrack, run in honor of the former jockey Marcial Romero Palomo. The horse maintained his undefeated record in his third race and showed no mercy to his opponents, in a muddy track due to the rain, and won with a time of 1 minute, 12 seconds, and 2 fifths, with the Peruvian jockey José Monteza on the saddle.

Handanovich took the lead with McCutchen and Oro Rojo; behind them were Parkur, Mahalo Hawaii, Kuanos, and the rest of the participants lined up almost in a row.

In the last curve, Parkur took the lead, but Handanovich, from the Tres Patines stable, bravely made a comeback to defeat Parkur by two lengths at the finish line. Tony Saman and Efrén Vélez received the trophy after the victory.

In the most exciting race, the filly Guillotina won with a strong finish in the special race for national debutants over 1,200 meters. Guillotina was last with José Monteza, but took advantage of an opening to surge forward and win the competition in her debut.

Later, in the sixth race of the program, Puro Humo, ridden by Henry Morán, emerged as the winner. The horse from La Patrona stable recorded a time of 1 minute, 12 seconds, and 1 fifth in the 1,200 meters race. In the final race of the day, the winner was Falero, with Gustavo Luque on the saddle.
