In an interview with 'Futbol Como Cancha' from RPP Noticias, the goalkeeper of Deportivo Binacional, Raúl Fernández, stated that both he and his teammates are dissatisfied and amazed by the perfect suspension of work that the Puno team has decided to implement.
"We are surprised by the decision made by the club since we had had 3 negotiation conversations, but what bothered us is that there is no willingness on their part. We supported the club in April when they sent us on vacation and we were always available to support the institution," said the popular 'Superman'.
The goalkeeper was clear in saying that the decision is inconceivable because the team has received income from CONMEBOL, the highest entity in South American soccer, precisely because of the coronavirus pandemic.
"It doesn't make sense because we all know how much money has entered the club's coffers due to CONMEBOL issues, because they were champions. Now, precisely because of the pandemic, they advanced money to the teams that were in the Libertadores. Television continues to pay all clubs normally and that's why the entire squad is surprised. If we were in a different situation, we would make a different decision and could help the club," Fernández added.
Finally, he regretted this decision and hopes that Sunafil evaluates what Deportivo Binacional is doing: "I know things happen for a reason. If this perfect suspension is achieved, if Sunafil manages to evaluate the clubs that make this decision and evaluate if the club should have taken this measure, it will set a precedent," concluded the former player of Universitario de Deportes.
