Cienciano: A historical perspective
Since its creation on July 8, 1901, Cienciano has been one of the most important clubs in southern Peru. The 'imperial' club was born in the cradle of the National College of Science of Cusco, driven by the arrival of Englishmen to the 'navel of the world' city.
There have been several individuals who have made Cienciano, with five titles and three runner-ups, be considered one of the greats in the country. From its founder, the British William H. Newel, to Freddy Ternero, the coach who won the Copa Sudamericana in 2001.
