After four months of playing the final that Independiente del Valle defeated Colón de Santa Fe of Argentina 3-1, the Appeals Chamber of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) decided to accept the complaint from the gauchos due to an alleged "bad registration" of goalkeeper Jorge Pinos.

The Argentine newspaper El Litoral, after its investigation on this case, publishes: "Last Friday, Colón de Santa Fe submitted the document with the 'expression of grievances' to the Appeals Chamber. It is an extensive document, with many pages."

"A second instance opens, with a specialized chamber that must rule. This Appeals Chamber does not have a deadline, since Colón did not exercise the 'prompt dispatch' figure either. What the Centenario neighborhood entity has achieved in these months that have passed since the 'first no', is to gather many more elements and provide many more evidence," emphasizes the newspaper, adding that Guillermo Saltos, current legal advisor to the FEF, is the President of this Conmebol chamber.

It all started with the claim made by Técnico Universitario de Ambato, who reported to the FEF and Conmebol that the player had a valid contract until 2021, but at the time the player stated that he had not signed any document and that his signature had been "forged". In their petition, the red roller claims a compensation of two years (the time remaining on the contract).

Their claims in the country were not accepted in the country, so they went to Conmebol, the entity that responded to them: "Player from Independiente del Valle PROPERLY INCLUDED in the Sudamericana final".

And Colón entered the action, who had lost the final. In mid-November 2019, one week after the final, the Disciplinary Court of Conmebol communicated:

  • Not to accept the complaint filed by Club Atlético Colón on November 12, 2019, as it is not appropriate.
  • Confirm the result of the match on November 9, 2019, between Club Independiente del Valle vs Club Atlético Colón, corresponding to the Final of the 2019 Sudamericana Conmebol by a score of 3-1 in favor of Club Independiente del Valle." (D)
