Chilean National Team Rejects Friendly Match against Peru

The refusal by the Chilean National Team to play the friendly match against Peru came as a shock to the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). The Chilean players communicated their decision not to participate in the match due to the social problems in their country.

But 'la bicolor' (referring to the Peruvian National Team) did not intend to sit idly by and be left without an opponent in such an important preparation stage. Consequently, Antonio García Pye and Juan Carlos Oblitas made the necessary efforts to find a new opponent for the Peruvian team, but everything became complicated due to time constraints.

First, there was talk of the possibility of the Peruvian National Team facing Panama in the Peruvian capital; however, the negotiation unexpectedly fell through. Subsequently, the possibility of arranging a match against Curacao was hinted at, but luck was also not on their side.

In this context, the president of the FPF, Agustín Lozano, confirmed that the Peruvian National Team will not play their last friendly match of the year, due to a decision made by Ricardo Gareca, who is already preparing for the match against Colombia in Miami (United States).
