Alianza Lima had a clear opportunity to take the lead during its match against Binacional in the 40th minute. After a foul by goalkeeper Michael Sotillo on Adrian Ugarriza in the local team's area, referee Augusto Menendez awarded a penalty in favor of Pablo Bengoechea's team and the one called to take it was Felipe Rodriguez.
Felipe Rodriguez, who already knows how to take penalties in Alianza Lima, stood in front of the ball and all the "íntimos" fans trusted in his shot to score the first goal of the match. However, the Uruguayan midfielder didn't hit it quite well and his shot was saved by Binacional's goalkeeper, Michael Sotillo.
With a weak shot, Felipe Rodriguez sent the ball towards his right side and the trajectory was guessed by Binacional's goalkeeper. Although the Alianza Lima midfielder tried to connect the rebound, Sotillo caught the ball and didn't allow the victorian team to have another chance to score in the same play. Thus, the score remained tied without goals until the end of the first half.
