The referee Michael Espinoza protagonized one of the strangest plays of the start of the match between Alianza Lima and Melgar, by fouling Colombian forward Carlos Preciado and leaving him lying on the field.
Everything happened in the 30th minute of the match, Luis Trujillo recovered the ball in the midfield and went on the attack, but two Melgar players marked him. So, the Alianza Lima side preferred to associate with Carlos Preciado to have a clean exit.
However, Carlos Preciado was taken down by the referee Michael Espinoza. How is that possible? What happened was that the referee intervened in the play and, by chance, ended up hitting 'colocho'.
The worst part is that the ball was seized by the Melgar midfielder and almost created a goal-scoring opportunity, but the Alianza Lima defense was attentive and went out to stop the play.
