The CONMEBOL announced through its official media that the new venue for the Copa Libertadores final will be played in Lima. Given the problems occurring in Chile, the organization led by Alejandro Dominguez confirmed that the Peruvian capital will host the match between River Plate and Flamengo for the title of this tournament.
Alejandro Dominguez, President of CONMEBOL, reiterated this information in a press conference held in Asuncion and took the time to thank Martin Vizcarra for providing the guarantees for this Copa Libertadores match to be played in Lima.
"I thank Martín Vizcarra for giving us the guarantees for the Copa Libertadores final to be played on November 23 in Lima. All precautions are being taken, and I also want to announce that the refund system for those who have already purchased tickets is being implemented. We will relaunch them soon, giving priority to those who have already had the opportunity to access them," he said.
On the other hand, Alejandro Dominguez provided details of the meeting where it was decided that Lima would be the venue for the Copa Libertadores final and stated that, although a consensus was reached, it did not happen quickly.
"There was consensus, but it was not quick. We have been working on a city for over a year and now we had to find the most viable option. We understand that both clubs and presidents are making an effort to explain the situation that has led us to make this decision," he concluded.
