Alianza Lima is preparing for the final part of the Clausura Tournament. However, before the season ends, there was talk of the possibility of having Christian Cueva, especially in order to qualify for the Copa Libertadores. Gustavo Zevallos, the club's sports manager, spoke about it.
"Players like Christian Cueva definitely add value to any team, but right now we are focused on the final part of the Clausura Tournament. We are not currently discussing what the 2020 season will be like," said the blanquiazul executive to Fútbol como Cancha from RPP.
César Torres, a member of the blanquiazul sports committee, hinted at the possibility of having Cueva for the following year to strengthen the attack for the Copa Libertadores 2020. "We don't rule it out. It is a possibility, but it is not currently within the budget," he said in a previous interview with RPP.
'Aladino' is currently in the country for personal reasons, after Santos announced that they will not count on him for the rest of this year. His situation became complicated at the Brazilian club after he missed one of the training sessions, which did not sit well with his coach, Jorge Sampaoli.
Alianza Lima is preparing to play their last matches of the Clausura. The first opponent will be Binacional, in Juliaca, so Pablo Bengoechea will have to consider which defensive scheme to use in order to not lose the top spot in the tournament. They will then face Sport Huancayo and Unión Comercio.
