The Peruvian National Team faced Uruguay twice for the second FIFA Date, before the 2022 Qatar World Cup Qualifiers. In the first match, the 'bicolor' could not overcome the 'celeste'; however, the second match ended in a 1-1 draw.
In a press conference, Ricardo Gareca spoke about the team's performance in both matches and the expectations he has for the group in the upcoming matches.
"We had difficulties against Uruguay but I believe it is something correctable. However, I think it is the merit of the opposing team, they are an intense team that has found young players who make efforts both in attack and defense, and that makes them a challenging team even with one man less," said Gareca.
"I am satisfied with the boys in some aspects, in others, we have to keep improving. I believe that in this match against Uruguay, they performed better than us, they were better in the sum of both matches. But I have the feeling that we are on the right track and we will recover. The Qualifiers will catch us well," he concluded.
The 'bicolor' has two matches scheduled for November, before starting the Qualifiers. The first one against Colombia (in Miami) and the second one against Chile (in Lima).
