The general manager of Sporting Cristal, Alfonso García Miró, referred to the absence of some players for the match between the team and Universitario de Deportes, due to their participation in friendly matches for the Peru national team, both for the U-23 team and the senior team.
"It's not a management or a decision we have been making these days. There is an error happening that surprises me because it's basic that when it comes to the U-23 team, the situation was not to harm one club excessively over another," said Alfonso Miró to 'Fútbol Como Cancha' from RPP Noticias.
This Wednesday, October 9th, Nolberto Solano, coach of the Peru U-23 national team, stated that he will release players who are key players for both Sporting Cristal and Universitario de Deportes.
Regarding this, the manager of Sporting Cristal said that it is not about how many players are released, but about how many affected players they have who will not be able to play this weekend. "It's not about how many players are released, but about how many affected players we have who cannot participate this weekend. Universitario, Cristal, and Alianza have 4 affected players. So we are more affected than the others, but the goal of the U-23 team was to balance the situation," he concluded.
