On Friday, October 11, the Superior Court of Justice of Brazil will determine the final sanction that Paolo Guerrero will receive after his controversial expulsion in the match between Internacional de Porto Alegre and Flamengo, a match played on September 25.
The usual procedure that the case of the Peruvian national team forward will have to go through is as follows: first, the prosecutor will explain the case that occurred on September 25, so that then the lawyer for Internacional can make the defense in favor of Guerrero. Finally, the highest authorities will issue a final ruling. All on the same day.
The hearing will be public and on the same Friday, the court will address fourteen other disciplinary cases that occurred in Brazilian football in the month of September. It is estimated that from 5:00 pm (Peruvian time) the punishment that Guerrero will have to face could already be known.
Paolo Guerrero was accused of going against two articles of the "Brazilian Sports Justice Code":
- Art. 243-F (twice): offend someone's honor. Penalty: fine of R$ 100 to R$ 100,000 and suspension of one to six games.
- Art. 258-A. Mocking the public during the match, test or equivalent. Penalty: suspension of two to six games.
