A significant drop. After the injury suffered by Yoshimar Yotun in the last Cruz Azul match, the Federation issued a statement announcing the call-up of Alejandro Hohberg as his replacement. However, both midfielders have different skills on the field, so now Ricardo Gareca must evaluate who would fit in his game plan against Uruguay.
"Just as Paolo Guerrero is essential to provide greater offensive potency, Yotun is crucial to provide cleanliness in the midfield. Beyond his possible substitutes, I believe that his absence will take away fluidity from the ball circulation," Fox Sports Radio Perú commented.
'Yoshi' has shown to be crucial in the 4-2-3-1 scheme that 'Tigre' implemented in the Copa América, where he partnered with Renato Tapia in the first line. Therefore, they debated which game plan should be used and who could replace the Cruz Azul midfielder against Uruguay.

Among the names mentioned were Edison Flores, Christofer Gonzales, and Josepmir Ballón as possible replacements for Yotun, although they highlighted that 'Orejitas' would be the most suitable to fill his position.
"The call-up of Hohberg I think will have to do with him being able to play in Flores' position, while the latter would replace Yotun in a 4-2-3-1 scheme," they stated on the radio program. However, it was also argued that if Gareca opts for a 4-3-3 formation, Ballón would be the most suitable to replace him, as he is a versatile midfielder.
The Peruvian National Team will face Uruguay on Friday at 6:00 PM at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, for the FIFA friendly match. The return match will be played at the National Stadium on Tuesday, October 15th at 8:30 PM.
