Former volleyball player Cenaida Uribe did not hide her sadness over the death of former coach of the Peruvian Volleyball Team, Man Bok Park, whom she described as a "father".
"My father died when I was 15 years old. And that same year, Mr. Park chose me among many other girls to join the team. He gave me the life I have. Volleyball and he practically gave me life. For me, he is like a father and I am very sad," she said to Andina Agency.
Uribe also recalled that she had lunch with Man Bok Park a year ago. "When one of the girls from the former team called me to tell me what was happening to him, it affected me a lot. We always visited each other, went out to dinner with his wife. A year ago I had lunch with him and he looked very well. It was an unpleasant surprise for me," she added.
The former attacker was part of the Peruvian Team that won the silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
It is worth mentioning that with Man Bok Park, Peru won the Junior World Championship in Mexico in 1981. They also finished as runners-up in the 1982 Peru World Championship and won the memorable silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
