Alliance Lima, Universitario, and Sporting Cristal: doping tests will resume from Matchday 8 of the Clausura Tournament [PHOTOS AND VIDEOS]

Lunes 16 de Septiembre del 2019

Drug tests will resume starting from the next match of the Clausura Tournament of Liga 1, after being suspended throughout the entire season.

At the halfway point of the Clausura Tournament, doping tests will once again be carried out on players from the 18 teams participating in Liga 1, as has been done in previous tournaments. The measure will apply starting from Round 8, and four teams will be subject to this examination.

"I have been informed that starting from next weekend, doping tests will resume, with two matches per round, as has always been established," they said on "Fútbol como Cancha" from RPP. However, this comment was made after emphasizing the lack of these types of tests throughout the 2019 season.

"It can't be that the championship has been going on for a long time without doping controls. In Peru, this has been done for years. The first year that the FPF is in charge of the Tournament and there is no doping control, they should have left it to the Association," they said on the mentioned program.

The next matchday will begin with the match between Binacional and Pirata FC in Juliaca, but when it comes to anticipated matches, Universitario de Deportes will return to Huancayo to play against the tournament leader for the three points, once again under the command of Ángel Comizzo. This match is scheduled for this Saturday at 8 p.m.

On the other hand, Alianza Lima returns to Matute to host Real Garcilaso on Sunday at 3:30 p.m., where they hope to add the three points they need to stay in first place in the Clausura Standings. Meanwhile, Sporting Cristal is leading the overall standings, but only by one point.
